TechCrunch announced that Twitter now has an option to always log in using a secure channel.
If you go to your Twitter settings, under the "Account" tab at the very bottom is an option to "Always use HTTPS." This helps ensure that information you send over wireless networks is safe from hackers, especially in public WiFi hotspots. This option is available if you use Twitter on the web, an iPhone, or an iPad. They are still working on the option for other mobile browers.
As an avid Twitter user but someone who is very cautious about Internet security, this is very good news. I have the HTTPS setting in place on my Facebook as well. I think people need to use HTTPS when using any website where they may potentially send personal information.
Other ways to help ensure nobody else can get to your information is by always logging out of your accounts, especially on public computers, and by always clearing your browser's cookies.
I've realized that many of my posts have been about Internet security, so I guess I'm more concerned about it than I originally thought.
